Master of Social Work (MSW) for Professionals
Graduate - Master of Social Work (MSW)
The Rutgers School of Social Work's Intensive Weekend MSW program prepares skilled direct-service providers to function in both public and private sectors of social welfare, and for advanced social work practice such as administrative leadership roles in the state's social welfare departments and agencies, and at all levels of government, as well as in the voluntary sector. The program is designed to enable individuals employed in the social service and other human service related fields to pursue their MSW while continuing to work full-time.
Students can expect to complete their MSW education in 3 years. Students who possess an undergraduate degree in social work from an accredited baccalaureate program in concentration can be considered for advanced standing admission and complete their degree in approximately two years. The Intensive Weekend program offers a course of study that is year round and suited to the needs of working professionals. Students take one course at a time and are in class one weekend each month. Courses are consecutive and each course consists of two sets of weekend meetings, supported by online activity in the interim weeks. Students participate in field education, generally at their place of employment, 1-2 days each week. Please note: The program also offers a clinical concenration component.
The program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education and includes academic coursework and supervised field practice. Graduates are eligible for certification by the New Jersey Board of Social Work Examiners.
All requirements, admissions information and application deadlines is provided on the School of Social Work's website.
The Master in Social Work offered at Atlantic Cape is an intensive weekend program for students already employed in social service and other human service related fields. If you are not currently employed in a human service related field, please contact the School of Social Work to learn more about other MSW options.
